Funding opportunities for quantum technologies

The funding opportunities for quantum technologies are diverse. There are local, national and European programs that promote quantum technologies and have different focuses. That is why we have teamed up with the Enterprise Europe Network Hamburg/ Schleswig Holstein, the Hamburgische Investitions- und Förderbank and presented the programs in a joint webinar. For anyone who missed the webinar, we provide a rough overview of the options here.

Funding from the IFB

Companies and start-ups from Hamburg looking for funding for quantum technologies will find what they are looking for at IFB Hamburg. The IFB has an additional budget of around 10 million euros for such projects and has thus set up various programs aimed at start-ups as well as large companies and research institutions that deal with products that fall under the category of quantum technologies. We have presented the programs for you here.

Nationwide programs

At the federal level, there are also various programs that focus on four main areas:

1) Quantum computing and simulation
2) Quantum communication
3) Quantum-based measurement technology
4) Basic technologies for quantum systems

There are currently six open BMBF programs for funding, which can be viewed here.
Venture capital (from the Federal Ministry of Economics and Climate Protection) is also available for quantum technologies.

Europe-wide funding

There are also various programs at European level with different focuses and target groups. An overview of the current calls for proposals can be found here. There is also an EIC ACCELERATOR. This also focuses on high-risk, ground-breaking innovations that have great international market potential. There is also an extra funding program for quantum technologies.

There are currently two exciting calls for proposals at European level:

1) Post quantum cryptography transition
2) Developing and deploying a network of quantum gravimeters in Europe

There is also a program that promotes cooperation with the UK on quantum technologies. More information can be found here.

If you have any questions about the individual programs, please write to us and we will put you in touch with the right contact person. Due to the great demand and the dynamic developments, we will also offer such a webinar again and inform you about it in good time on our channels.
